Buyer Senior (Apparel Buyer)

Duties and Responsibilities:  This position is responsible for buying imprinted apparel for all (currently 8) ASU Bookstore locations, including the athletic Team Shop.  Oversees and directs the buying, selling and merchandising of general school supplies, graduation products and other merchandise.  Responsible for product selection, assortment development, pricing strategy, forecasting, order placement, reorders and appropriate usage of trademark logos.  Analyzes retail and college market trends to meet student and customer needs.  Maximizes revenue generation and expense reduction.  Maintains required gross margin, balanced mark downs and optimum inventory. Maintains system and data integrity.  Reconciles invoices for payment, prepares monthly sales analysis and departmental activity reports for store managers and director.   Assures that all stores are well stocked, attractively merchandised through regular store site visits and meetings with applicable store staff.  Develop and review budgets, goals and departmental performance with store director.  Supervises and manages full time, temp and student staff.

 

Desired Qualifications: Demonstrated knowledge and experience in buying and department management functions.  Demonstrated knowledge and experience in coordinating and implementing promotions. Knowledge of retail method accounting.  Knowledge and experience in budget preparation and forecasting. Demonstrated skill in management and supervision.  Knowledge and experience with computer point of sale inventory management systems.  Demonstrated knowledge and experience in oral and written communication skills.  College retail experience a plus.
