Position Overview:

As a key member of the Merchandising team working in Kent, Washington office and reporting to the General Merchandise Manager the successful candidate will be responsible for, negotiating, sourcing products, managing an inventory budget, and working with stores and marketing staff to sell product. 


Accountabilities:

PurchasingCommunicate and liaise with buyers in Canada on a regular basis to ensure quality product and correct values are consistent within the companyNegotiate extreme value to ensure maximum profitability staying within the category budget parametersDraft purchase orders with relevant and accurate information for data entryReview all orders and  approve purchase orders

 

Merchandise ManagementAchieve corporate budgets objectives regarding gross margin, sales and turnoverStrategic merchandise planning, budgeting and forecastingMonitor sales, mark-downs, inventory levels, turnover and GMROIAnalyze past purchases and event results to maximize future productivityResponsible for inventory allocation including monitoring key store attributes by market and store typeIdentify and visit key competitors frequently to monitor products and values and overall industry analysis

 

VendorsMake trips to relevant vendors as required Attend trade shows as necessary to monitor industry trends and merchandise availabilityDevelop and maintain appropriate vendor relationships

 

MarketingSource frequent events and weekly promotions to maximize category sales and profitPlan and develop flyer information as required in conjunction with the marketing departmentDevelop in-store promotional materials including product knowledge, training and signage when applicable People Management Support Merchandise Assistant(s) in their development and achievement of goalsSet standards of performance and constructively counsel to provide leadership for growth in their capacity and improve overall department strength to ensure effective succession planningEnsure all respective team members are working consistently within their relevant job description

 

 Qualifications:

Successful Candidates will likely have/be:Proven track record of superior negotiating skills5+ years of buying experience OR  have owned your own businessStrong product knowledge (category specific)Motivated, with a passion for retail and buying great productStrong analytical, financial, strategic and planning skills

? Excellent relationship/vendor management skills

? Some computer skills

? Excellent communication skills

? Effective time management and organizational skills

? Co-ordinate multiple interrelated projects concurrently

? An entrepreneurial spirit

? Eye for extreme value

? A high level of salesmanship

? Ability to travel
