Category Analyst

We are currently seeking a Category Analyst to work in our Merchandising Department and be a part of our highly successful organization!

 

This key player's essential duties and responsibilities will be to:
Develop pricing and promotional tools for buying team.
Perform pricing elasticity analyses and make product recommendations.
Utilize POS and syndicated data to determine and quantify category business opportunities and key drivers.
Ability to create and manage internal reports required by various functional teams.
Monitor competitive and market conditions of categories and report finding to buying team and management in their specific category.
Develop consumer insights for category/brand to optimize volume and profits with a specific knowledge of industry, vendor and CompUSA objectives to make strategic, trend based recommendations.
Review category, vendor, and promotional performance to optimize merchandising expenditure.
Work to develop new analysis tools and improve product-pricing recommendations.
Educate buying team on the appropriate application of available internal and external data.

 

Qualified candidates will have a strong analytical and market research background with:
Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Finance, Business, Statistics, or its equivalent.
2 to 5 years of CPG, retailer, or consulting category management experience.
Experience with IRI, AC Nielsen, NPD or other syndicated POS/Consumer data preferred.
Demonstrated analytical skills and statistical techniques to development forecasting measures.
Intermediate or advanced PC skills with proficiency in spreadsheets (Excel), databases (Access), and graphics software (PowerPoint).
Ability to analyze trends and provide insight through persuasive and actionable plans.

 

This position is located in North Dallas off Beltline and the Tollway.
