Claims Manager

Location: Richmond, VA
Fortune 500 company located in Richmond, Virginia, has an opening for a Claims Manager. The position is responsible at the Corporate level for directing and controlling the administration of company-wide insured and self-insured claim programs, including but not limited to workers? compensation, state and federal black lung, auto and general liability, property, excess liability, and Employment Practice Liability.
? Directs and controls workers? compensation, and state and federal black lung programs associated with former Coal operations.
? Coordinates KPMG annual audit and review of Workers? Compensation and Liability Program.
? Additional responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements:
? College degree
? At least 5-7 years experience in insurance industry
? Proficient verbal and written communication skills
? Knowledge of workers? compensation acts, insurance negligence laws, and state and federal black lung statutes
? Proficient interpersonal skills
? Knowledge of medical concepts, diagnoses, surgical procedures, medical terminology, treatment plans, vocational rehabilitation and functional capacity programs
? Knowledge of insurance coverage, including terms, conditions, exclusions, and reporting requirements
? Knowledge of accounting and financial reporting functions, insurance accrual process, SOX 404 audit work, and related financial controls
? Approximately 30% travel
? Knowledge of adequate claim reserving.
