JOB TITLE: Control Buyer

STATUS:  Full Time/Salaried

DEPARTMENT: Inventory Control

REPORTS TO:  Inventory Control Manager for Plow&Hearth,

Duties:

?  Plan item sales, purchase and manage inventory  for selected categories of merchandise for all channels .

?  Use the Forecast 21 system for development of forecasts, evaluation of inventory position, and assessment of any required actions.  Place orders and reorders with vendors to insure timely delivery of merchandise, paying special attention to new suppliers.

?  Develop partnerships with vendors keeping them informed of inventory position and projection changes while notifying Merchandising and Inventory Control of vendor performance.

?  Review inventory and open orders for potential overstock situations and take necessary action.  Participate in the identification and disposal of overstock merchandise .

?  Maintain initial fill and  inventory turnover objectives

?  Identify priority shipments or vendors to be called about status of orders. 

?   Negotiate discounts, expedited shipping, and/or extended terms for vendor failures.  As needed contact vendor to negotiate order releases and cancellations to maintain appropriate level of inventory.

?  Assist internal departments with questions/problems associated with catalog merchandise.

?  Update MOSIS files as necessary.

?  Prepare written and oral correspondence to vendors and internal customers including weekly sales and reforecast reports to key vendors.

?  Work with merchants in pre season analysis and assortment planning.  Participate in new product discussions with product managers.

?  Negotiate cost savings on product information forms with vendors for Inventory Control related issues (i.e.delivery, packaging, etc).

?  Assist with catalog proofing process.

?  Give direction to expeditor.

?  Assist in reconciling discrepancies in accounts payable, receiving or other departments.
