Job Description:

The GM Merchandise Analyst is a highly visible role, providing the unique opportunity of learning and adding value to both Finance and Operations. The GM Merchandise Analyst is responsible for reporting and analysis for the General Merchandise department. The GM Analyst will work directly for VP of Planning and Allocation to analyze sales and profitability, support inventory management, and identify strategic opportunities to improve business performance.


Job Functions:

1. Responsible for weekly and monthly reporting.2. Supports planning and sourcing functions by providing periodic reports by product department, style, color or size level. 3. Provides ad hoc merchandise analysis of product strategies, category assortments and store performance to identify sales growth opportunities and maximize margin and inventory.4. Assists with administration of Merchandise planning software, Evant.5. Participates in quarterly forecasts, ensuring accuracy of monthly spreads and anticipating financial trends.6. Assists with the development and planning for annual budget process including reviewing and critiquing submitted budgets and providing suggestions for improvement where needed.7. Provides support as needed to Senior VP of General Merchandise and Sourcing Directors

Requirements:

1.BA/BS in Finance or general Business
2.Four to six years retail experience in Merchandise/Financial planning required
3.Basic understanding of financial statements, financial modeling, and financial concepts required
4.Strong analytical and problem solving experience
5.Ability to communicate and present effectivelyReporting
