The Management Trainee ensures the efficient operation of a department; recommends, orders, determines price of, stocks and displays ad and staple merchandise; supervises departmental employees, trains new departmental employees, provides customer assistance, processes sales, manages inventory control for the department, and maintains and improves good customer service, general departmental image, and store maintenance and appearance for the safety and health of customers and employees, and ensures adherence to governmental regulations and laws.



* Ensures the efficient operation of the department. Provides customer service. Answers customer inquiries and provides product information.

* Supervises and trains department personnel.

* Recommends, orders, determines price of ad and staple merchandise. Follows up on ordered merchandise to ensure timely arrival. Plans and executes ad sets.

* Oversees the creation, building and stocking of department merchandise displays.

* Manages inventory control for the department. Maintains required records and reports.

* Maintains and improves good customer service and general departmental image; adheres to governmental regulations and laws.

* Assists with quarterly inventory preparation and count.

* Provides Store Management with feedback and offers suggestions regarding dept.

* Processes sales, authorizes refunds, and approves checks and charges. Performs employee checkouts.

* Supports and assists management with daily managerial duties.

* As requested; will be responsible for opening the store and relieving Store Management for breaks and lunch.

* Performs other duties as needed.

* Cleans front end, stocks grocery bags at check stands. Puts out orders and receivables; as requested.

* Receives predetermined work assignments that are subject to a moderate level of control and review. Directs department personnel to complete assignments using established guidelines, procedures and policies.

* Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results may cause delays in schedules.

* Provides immediate supervision to department personnel, assigning tasks, checking work at frequent intervals, and maintaining schedules.

o Typically requires high school diploma or equivalent.

o Previous work experience in a retail setting.

o Power pallet jack certification may be required.
