NOC Engineer

NOC Systems Engineer (3 month contract)

 

Comsys is looking for a NOC Systems Engineer to join its top notch Network Operations team.  This candidate should be energetic, customer service oriented and technically talented and experienced to help support Company's sites and suite of services in a 24/7, dynamic and fast-paced production environment. Process and procedure is at the root of this person?s actions as well as his or her internal and external interactions.  Everyday is a new opportunity to strive for greatness so this person has to be a self-starter who is proactive and self-motivated to achieve operational excellence.  We are looking for an Intermediate to Advanced Level System Administrator who is versatile technically, has the aptitude to increase technical breadth, and the attitude and personality to support a World Class NOC organization. 

 

Job Duties

 

- Monitor and manage all production systems and services

- First response resolution of all production alerts and problem reports

- Problem ticket creation, processing and queue management

- Technical call or bridge management and facilitation

- Able to create/revise documentation thoroughly for tactical use and training

- Batch job monitoring and incident response

- Follow all documented processes and procedures

- Escalate all site issues to documented escalation matrix

- Provide timely feedback on process/procedural improvements and operational inefficiencies

- Complete tasks required to maintain service levels and availability of all site features and functions

 

Job Requirements

 

- Payments experience preferred but not required

- BS in technical field or equivalent experience

- Ability to multi-task in a high-pressure environment

- 2 or more years of NOC experience in a 24/7 environment, preferably in a high volume website

- 3 to 5 years of Solaris and Linux administration experience

- 3 to 5 years of Windows Server administration experience

- Flexibility to work Day, Swing, or Grave shifts

- Experience with common system administration tools

- Working knowledge with scripting tools, Perl and UNIX shell scripting

- Knowledge of relational databases preferably Oracle

- Proven problem solving skills with an emphasis on quick problem resolution and availability of services

- Basic LAN and WAN network knowledge

- Experience with web development technologies like HTML, XML, XSL, Java

- Competent with most aspects of operating system administration; for example, configuration of mail systems, system installation and configuration, fundamentals of security, and understanding third-party software.

- Solid understanding of a UNIX-based operating systems; understands paging and swapping, inter-process communication, devices and what device drivers do, file system concepts (inode, clustering, logical partitions).

- Ability to work in a structured technical environment with various change management systems

- Familiarity with Batch jobs and scheduling

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and capable of interacting with upper management
