Summary:

 

Ideal candidate will be able to provide administrative and functional supervision of retail store including inventory control, sales and returns, vendor relations, marketing and cash management.  Provide leadership by directing and managing employees, perishable products, supplies and create initiatives to stimulate growth of business while meeting customer requirements and maximizing profits.  Supervise all employees in floral department.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 Manage inventories by tracking weekly reports and ordering fresh flowers, plants and supplies in order to meet customer requirements and maximize profits.Schedule Employees and delegate work assignments, effectively utilize employees and supplies to maximize store profits.Prepare, maintain and track records concerning inventory costs, product resale value, general expenses, employee costs and overall profit.Develop and control department budgets and policies to prevent loss and maximize profit.Assist with development and implementation of policies and procedures consistent with the goals of the company to ensure efficient and effective operation.Oversee maintenance of giftware stock, displays, signs, and inventory, including year-end-inventory.Meet with event clients to develop event design and cost proposal.Enforce all company policies and procedures and promote company policies to staff.Supervise personnel including performance evaluation, work allocation, problem resolution, and recommendations for hiring/firing.Assist with floral design and event design during holidays and busy seasons.Represent the company at various community and/or business meetings.Work closely with corporate officers to ensure continued growth and fiscal stability of the company.Promote continuous development of employeesPerform miscellaneous job-related duties as requested.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

 

?  Knowledge of flowers, plants and modern design techniques

?  Skill in business management and operations

?  Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork

?  Ability to receive stock and/or deliver goods

?  Ability to supervise and train employees to include organizing prioritizing and scheduling work assignments.

?  Skill in using personal computers and related basic software applications

?  Knowledge of retail advertising, sales promotion and/or visual merchandising techniques

?  Knowledge of stock control procedures

?  Ability to develop and maintain record-keeping systems and procedures

?  Skill in budget preparation and fiscal management

?  Ability to work with wholesale flower vendors, maximize competition and lower stock costs.

?  Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

?  Attention to detail.

?  Skill in developing and maintaining organizational systems

?  Ability to delegate tasks and following-up to ensure completion

 

Physical Requirements/Work Conditions:

 

Work is performed in office and general design studio environment with attached retail gift shop. Candidate must be able to perform the following tasks:

?  Lifting up to 40 pounds

?  Standing/working/walking on feet for several hours

?  Reaching

?  Bending

?  Grasping

?  Cutting with scissor and floral tools

?  Basic typing

?  Driving

?  Climbing ladders.

 

Education/Certification Requirements:

 

Essential: High School Education or Equivalent, 1 year experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

 

Desired: Floral design certification, Bachelor?s Degree, 2-5 years experience in retail/business management, 2-5 years experience in floral operations/merchandising.
