Retail Sales Manager

ROBERT MORRIS UNIVERSITY announces the position of Retail Sales Manager at its Island Sports Center reporting to the Executive Director.

 

The Retail Sales Manager is a full-time position responsible for all areas of retail sales, pro-shop operations, merchandise initiatives, third-party partnerships and apparel/vendor relations for the University?s Island Sports Center. Responsibilities include developing, motivating and managing sales associates, supporting other departments and exploring new trends/opportunities to grow revenues through retail and merchandising sales; managing budget and achieving all revenue/expense objects; maintaining excellent relationships with facility teams, affiliated organizations and University contacts; creating/maintaining visual merchandising displays; developing/managing inventory controls; ensuring associate productivity and satisfaction; performing spot-check inventories on a regular basis; researching and analyzing new trends and sales opportunities; and performing related work as required. 

 

Qualifications:  High School education or GED; Minimum of 3-5 years of retail management experience; experience and knowledge of hockey equipment and vendors preferred; knowledge and operational expertise of a just-in-time (JIT) inventory system preferred; strong leadership, supervision and motivation skills to coach and develop staff; ability to read/listen/communicate effectively both verbally and in writing regarding product, operational and staffing issues; ability to access and accurately input information using a moderately complex POS computer system; strong knowledge of merchandise and apparel trends, news and current events; knowledge of skate sharpening preferred; commitment to working a varying schedule in a busy sales environment; willingness to work evenings, weekends and/or holidays; and superior guest/customer service skills.
