Job Description: SALES MANAGER TRAINEE Join JCPenney and Win Together in an exciting and challenging retail environment by using your leadership and business skills to lead store teams to the highest level of performance.

Training: The JCPenney management training program is a state-of-the-art and technology-driven program recognized as being one of the best in the industry. Sales Manager Trainees spend their first 20 weeks of formal store training in two areas: sales leadership and visual presentation. The formal phase of the training program focuses on Sales Manager's roles and responsibilities in the daily operations of a JCPenney Store. After the formal training phase, you will move into phase two of your training, or better known as the ?hands-on? phase. During phase two, you will manage an area within your store, allowing you to exercise the judgment and management skills you learned in phase one. During phase two, you will continue to receive informal training that will allow you to strengthen your leadership skills. Your second phase will vary in length of time. Upon successful completion of the Training Program, you will be rewarded with a promotion into the Sales Manager Position.

Typical Work Week: You will work approximately 40 hours during the 20-week formal store training program which will include nights and weekends. After your training program is completed, you will typically work 40-45 hours per week, including some holidays, nights and weekends.

Sales Manager Description: Upon ?successful? completion of the Sales Manager training program, including phase one and two, you will be promoted to your first assignment as a Sales Manager. Sales Manager responsibilities include but are not limited to being an effective leader of store teams, ensuring customer's have a great shopping experience which builds customer loyalty, creating an exciting visual presentation through implementation of store plans and events, and assisting in maximizing sales and profit objectives. As a condition for continued employment, you may be required to relocate.

Qualifications: A 3.0 minimum GPA is preferred. An undergraduate degree in Business, Marketing, or Merchandising is preferred, but students with strong leadership skills and a flair for retail concepts will also be considered. Students must be presently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis. This does not include optional or curricular practical training authorization. JCPenney does not sponsor individuals for the purpose of obtaining work-related visas for this position.

Relocation Allowance: You will be assigned to a Training Store as a Sales Manager Trainee, and to assist you with your relocation expenses you will receive a $2,000 relocation bonus if relocation is required. Upon promotion to Sales Manager, relocation is a probability and your relocation assistance is extensive.
