Senior Textile Technologist

JOB SUMMARY:

Drive efforts to meet on time delivery with first quality goods by having hands on involvement with Mills, Weavers, Spinners, Dyers, Finishers, Fabric Suppliers, Vendors and WH|BM cross functional team to maintain and monitor vendor and/or supplier adherence to WH|BM standards, processes and procedures that will elevate the quality of the merchandise and brand through consistency of yarns and fabrics across all classifications.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1.  Assess suppliers capabilities and capacities bringing new resources to the table as opportunities present themselves.

 

2.  Ensure vendor and/or supplier is clear on all WH|BM standards, processes and procedures.

 

3.  Review specific fabric and yarn details to ensure reasonable standards have been set, making recommendations for edits as needed to all partners.

 

4.  Conduct on the fly mill, dyers, finisher audits as needed

 

5.  Establish, develop & cultivate relationships with vendors, suppliers as well as cross-functional team.

 

6.  Communicate daily with vendors, suppliers and cross-functional team on all efforts being mindful of the T&A calendars.

 

7.  Review and evaluate all lab testing for textiles, partnering with vendors, suppliers and cross-functional team on resolution of failures

 

8.  Stays abreast of new technology to help evolve, evaluate textile development efforts.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

1.  4-Year College Degree preferred

2.  Minimum 10 years experience in the sewn goods industry with expertise in technical textile development.

3.  Complete understanding of performance requirements and laboratory testing across a broad range fabrics and yarns as applies to Wovens including Denim, Knits and Sweaters.

4.  Solid knowledge of International Trade Law and US Apparel and Customs regulations including but not limited to those under the guidance of the FTC and CPSC.

5.  Extensive experience and solid relationships with Mills, Weavers, Spinners, Knitters, Finishers and Dye Houses.

6.  Solid understanding of garment construction and how it relates to various textiles.

7.  Solid understanding of Product Development as well as Time and Actions Calendars.

8.  Detail oriented with strong communication, organizational and problem solving skills.

9.  Excellent Management and Leadership skills.

10. Strong sense of urgency.

11. Computer literate with a focus on Web PDM. Excel and Word.

50-75% of time will be spent traveling, often on short notice and for extended stays(e.g. up to 4 weeks)
