Position Description:

Scholastic Book Fairs works with schools across the country to host more than 120,000 annual reading events, connecting more than 55 million children with great books each year. Book Fairs foster enthusiasm for reading, while helping to build school and classroom libraries by providing students, teachers and parents access to thousands of books and educational products at affordable prices.

We are looking for a Shipping & Receiving Clerk to:
Process incoming and outgoing shipments of book product, marketing materials, and corrugation for the Region
Process and complete the re-allocation and shipping of product to all Branches and identify their destination with a pallet marker and address label, when applicable.
Provide accurate paperwork on products and quantities received that need to be placed into the locator system.
Maintain control and location of bulk stock movement. Responsible for the movement of stock between bulk and line locations.
Assist in daily disbursement of product.
Validate the quantities received against the carrier and vendor packing lists.
Provide accurate paperwork on products and quantities received and scan or key the receipts into the purchase order receipt system.
Provide accurate shipping and receiving information to the Regional Inventory Manager (RIM) and/or Regional Inventory Coordinator (RIC) in a timely manner including receipts of products, marketing materials, corrugations, and transfers.
Keep and maintain, as necessary, a designated ?overage? area for additional product received that is 105% or greater of allocated product.
Assist drivers in the loading and unloading of trucks. Load and unload trucks with or without the assistance of mechanical devices.
Participate in warehouse sales and inventory counts.
Maintain a courteous and positive relationship with all customers.
Ensure that all warehouse equipment and tools are properly utilized to increase productivity, efficiency, and safety; report any unsafe conditions/equipment or injury to management.
Responsible for the careful handling of all merchandise, avoiding damage, bending, or tearing.
Fill Accurate Data on Labor Data Collection Cards.
May operate forklifts during peak periods (If certified ? must be at least 18 years of age).
Maintain a clean, safe, and productive work environment.
Regular attendance in accordance with schedule.
Drug and alcohol free policy compliance.
Special projects (some seasonal) as assigned by Regional Inventory Manager/Regional Inventory Coordinator, including, but not limited to, shipping of special order product, pulling product to be transferred, value packing, and pricing of excess product.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED Certificate preferred.
Ability to lift/carry 50 lbs., push/pull up to 300 lbs., climbs ladders without assistance. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Ability to operate a 10-key calculator.
Strong computer skills; ability to navigate through the internet, MS Office, and email preferred.
Must have reliable means of transportation to and from work.
Ability to work over time and weekends as needed.
Ability to utilize scanner systems effectively with minimal errors.
Strong team player and the ability to get along with co-workers.
Good verbal/written communication skills, basic math skills, and ability to read.
Forklift experience is a plus.
