Sr. Buyer

Job Description: The Sr. Buyer maximizes sales & gross margin rate of assigned store space through the selection, negotiation, pricing, merchandise presentation and advertising of assigned categories of merchandise. Ensures that departmental merchandise assortments reflect and support craft ideas and trends. Is responsible for the personal development and growth of direct reports.

Primary Responsibilities:
Maximize Sales of Assigned Store Space
Maximize Gross Margin Rate/Buyer Contribution
Ensures merchandise assortments that reflect and support craft ideas and trends
Merchandise Presentation
Seasonal Competitive Research
Advertising & Store Communications
Maximize Inventory Leveraging
Maximize Coop/Market Development Funds
Vendor Negotiations/Relations
Manage Vendor Performance
Vendor Information/MIS System
Training & Development

Job Requirements:
· Bachelors Degree in Business or related field preferred
· 7+ years buying experience with $50+ million in inventory for a retail company
· Strong vendor relations, and negotiation skills
· Strong planning and organizational skills
· Several years experience with sales analysis, assortment and sales planning
· Solid understanding of Microsoft Office
· Very strong communication skills
· Prefer experience in Crafts or Home Decor
