Store Manager - Redondo Beach/S. Torrence, CA

Big Lots, Inc. is the nation?s largest broadline closeout retailer with over 1400 closeout stores nationwide. We are currently looking for management for our stores in Redondo Beach and South Torrence, CA.

Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to the following):
1. Supervise the interviewing, selection, hiring and training of all associates.

2. Maintain a high level of customer service by ensuring that service standards are high and that complaints from customers are quickly resolved.

3. Supervise freight process to ensure compliance to company guidelines and productivity standards.

4. Maintain interior and exterior store standards.

5. Merchandise presentation standards in accordance to company direction.

6. Maximize sales potential through identifying new ways to drive sales, ad set, and detail ordering to ensure depth of assortment is represented.

7. Responsible to implement safety and shrink best practices.

8. Manage and supervise office functions, payroll, and controllable expenses.

9. Approve/take appropriate disciplinary action on associates, including making recommendations for termination, in accordance with company guidelines.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. High School Diploma, GED or equivalent work experience required.

2. Must be 18 years of age.

3. Minimum of five years retail management experience preferred.

4. Demonstrated managerial skills required.

5. Mobility to move freely throughout store on a continual basis throughout the workday.

6. Ability to work at least 45 hours per week.  Work schedule varies each week and includes working nights and weekends.

7. Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.

8. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.

8. Highly developed decision-making and problem resolution skills.  Highly developed sense of integrity and commitment to customer satisfaction.

9. Self-motivated with strong communication, organizational and leadership skills required.

10. Basic PC skills preferred.
