Store Manager & Assistant Store Manager

 

Responsible for management of the departments assigned to them and for the supervision of employees in those departments. Assists in managing and controlling the operations of the store to ensure that company standards and expectations are consistently met. Supervise areas assigned by the Store Manager and follow the Ross philosophy and policies in regard to customers, employees and merchandising. Responsible for learning all phases of store operations. In the absence of the Store Manager, the Assistant Manager is responsible for the entire store operation and will execute the business plan and associated programs that will deliver the desired sales and profit results, while maintaining good quality customer service.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Organizational Development Assist in recruiting, hiring, training and developing non-exempt employees. Ensure compliance of dd's Discounts personnel policies and procedures. Assist with Employee Relations issues by communicating any incidents to the Store Manager or District Managers as needed. Maintain adherence to company safety policies and ensure the safety of employees and customers. Assist in the Facilitation of monthly safety meetings. Ensure compliance of all state, local and federal regulations.


Customer Service Executing customer service programs and Merchandise Presentation programs. Supervise and coach retail associates in providing efficient and friendly service at the registers, Customer Service desk fitting rooms, etc. Monitor the maintenance of sizing to corporate goal.


Shortage Monitor inventory shortage programs in store and monitor programs to ensure compliance. Assist with training employees on Loss Prevention awareness and store shortage goals. Monitor of marked-out-of-stock policy to ensure proper administration.


Store Appearance Maintain a high standard of house keeping with help of contracted maintenance personnel and Ross employees. Manage store recovery to ensure a clean, neat, easy to shop environment.


Expense Control Assist in the management of and continuous monitoring and manage of actual expenditures to be within budget. Control payroll hours to plan, as the primary controllable expense, as well as adjusting to current business trends.


Merchandising Philosophy and Guidelines Urgent approach to processing merchandise to the selling floor within company timeframe. Ensure markdowns are processed according to policy on an accurate and timely basis.


General Operating Requirements Assist in the analysis of monthly store reports to evaluate controllable expenses and overall store performance. Communicate any variances to company standards to the Store Manager. Ensure proper scheduling of employees to meet business objectives.


Emergency ProceduresEnsure all employees understand and can execute emergency operating procedures.


Special AssignmentsAccept special assignments as directed by management.

 

 REQUIREMENTS

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED: Two or more years of management experience in a retail environment Demonstrate the ability to supervise, motivate and communicate positively to store personnel at all levels Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize those tasks, give direction and follow through to completion Ability to set priorities and exercise independent judgment Maintain high quality of customer service
Ability to work evenings and weekends
