National Account Manager

National Account Manager



 

GENERAL SCOPE OF JOB:  

To identify and market Interstate Distributor Co. transportation capabilities.

 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Identify opportunities for Interstate Distributor Co. services.  Including truckload, dedicated, Intermodal and Logistics Operations.

 

Contact and visit a minimum of ten (10) National Account customers per week. Prepare and compile a listing of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from newspapers, business directories, industry ads, trade shows, Internet Web sites, and other sources.  Quarterly review meetings will be held to assess progress.

 

The National Account Manager will spend approximately 50% of their time developing new business for the company.

 

The National Account Manager will spend approximately 50% of their time on nurturing existing business.  Using breakfast, lunch or dinner as a potential time to build those relationships.

 

Travel using assigned company vehicle or airline when necessary throughout assigned territory.  The National Account Manger would be expected to call on regular and prospective customers to solicit orders, or talk with customers at their business or by phone.

 

Prepare and present quotes, credit terms and sales contracts for orders obtained.

 

Prepare reports of business transactions and monthly expense accounts.

 

Attend sales meetings as required.  Continued development of sales skills through using various educational methods is also required.

 

Interact with Billing and Credit departments to ensure customer satisfaction and payment of account as required by sales contract.

 

QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED:

Minimum of 5-years sales experience working within the transportation industry.

 

Extensive knowledge of the transportation industry required.

 

Demonstrate above average organizational and memory skills to effectively handle multiple priorities with short deadlines.

 

Ability to communicate effectively, verbal and written to customers, managers and employees.

 

Possess computer experience with Internet, PC and AS/400 systems: keyboarding ability is essential, as is the ability to efficiently operate in a computerized environment.
