Sales Manager II/III

Time after time, Progressive has turned the insurance industry upside down through its innovative services, its use of technology and its continual push to be the No. 1 choice for auto insurance.This position is an intermediate to senior outside sales position designed to familiarize the incumbent with the organization, product knowledge, and selling skills as he/she works to increase sales through the Independent Agency channel. Prospects and appoints new agents, manages agent behavior to increase product sales, builds relationships with key accounts and manages key initiatives within assigned territory. Focuses on mid to high level agencies.
Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience
* Typically 2-7 years or less sales experience
* Excellent communication, organization and interpersonal skills
* Valid drivers license
* Attendance in Basic Sales Training classes in Cleveland required.
* May have some overnight travel.
80% -- Initiates field visits to agencies to advise agents how to use products to meet consumer needs as well as agency goals. Consults with agents on operating costs, profitability, revenue, technology, and automation. Develops agent action plans, and creates and executes advanced account development strategies. Assists agents in developing viable business plans. Develops relationships with key agencies and members of insurance industry. Provides agent/CSR training.
5% -- Identifies high potential agents and agents at risk through the use of I Avenue queries. Contacts accounts, or prospects, and appoints new agents and terminates low performing agents.
5% -- Attends agency and industry functions to promote Progressive. Develops and/or presents continuing training courses for agents.
5% -- Plans each day/routes to maximize outcomes, ensuring that the plan aligns with strategic priorities. Prepares background sales call information and research, summaries of sales activities and call follow up.
5% -- Manages agent and competitor data collection. Accurately documents calls after sales call is completed using appropriate call documentation.
