Discovery World at Pier Wisconsin is a new facility on Milwaukee's beautiful lakefront.  We are an interactive hands on science and technology museum that also house's an aquarium and the sailing vessel S/V Denis Sullivan.  The S/V Denis Sullivan is Wisconsin's Official Flagship.  She is a teaching platform for all who sail on her.  A position is now open for this department.  The description is as follows:

Overall Responsibilities

 

Coordinates, promotes and increases usage of the S/V Denis Sullivan and/or vessels owned by or participating in Discovery World at Pier Wisconsin programs.  Schedules and maintains current programs including educational sails, adventure sails, deck tours and private charters.  Develops and promotes new markets for existing and potential programs, while maintaining links to current usage base. Assists interested educational groups with potential funding by maintaining database of possible grants and providing grant-writing guidance to other organizations to help fund vessel programs.

   Major Tasks

?  Schedules and  follows up on contract agreements:

1.  Day sail programs- answer inquires and book passengers.

2.  Private charters- Work with our events staff and clients to facilitate the vessel?s usage.

3.  Education sails, adventure sails- Booking of LWE, adult adventure.

4.  Travel and logistics for passengers to and from vessel.

?  Works with marine education officers to ensure programming meets range of needs within the community and reaches new potential markets.

?  Working with marine education officers, maintains database of possible grants available to provide needed funding to educational groups interested in programs aboard the S/V Denis Sullivan.  Provides grant-writing guidance and other assistance to educational groups in need of funding in order to take part in programs aboard the vessel.

?  Works to promote the Sullivan?s current range of programs to new markets, maintaining ties and good relationships with clients.

?  Helps to open new markets in other parts of the country.
