Hewlett Packard's OpenView PreSales Organization provides software solutions that help customers align IT with business priorities.  The OpenView portfolio addresses all Aspects of Enterprise Management - encompassing Business Process Management Service management, Application management, Infrastructure Management, Configuration management and Identity Management.  HP OpenView is one of the fastest growing Enterprise Management portfolios in the market.

 

This position is for a Solution Architect.  Other industry terms for this position are Technical Consultant, Pre Sales Engineer, Sales Engineer and Sales Consultant.

 

This position will be located in the St. Louis, Missouri area with travel to the central states.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Technical sales of HP OpenView Solutions including requirements gathering, solution development, presentations, demonstrations, proof of concepts, RFI/RFP responses, competitive differentiation, ROI/TCO studies and project management of technical sales process.  The customer space is predominantly Fortune 500 companies.  You will receive formal training as well as mentorship from peers.

 

Responsibilities include:
Developing solutions using OpenView and partner products that integrate with customer's existing infrastructure to meet their business and technical requirements.
Work with customers to gain their mind share an share HP OpenView strategy and the Adaptive Enterprise Vision.
Work with an elite team of PreSales Solutions Architects and Sales Representatives
Work closely with HP's Consulting and Integration services to assure a successful hand off for implementation.
Constantly learning and demonstrating competencies in new technologies, products and solutions.
Contribute to the knowledge base with your peers as you gain experience.


 








Bachelor's degree preferably in a technical field.
Prior experience and demonstrated success in a similar Software Presales Consulting role (Solution Architect, Technical Consultant, PreSales Engineer, Sales Engineer, Sales Consultant)
Technical knowledge and experience in enterprise level software solutions
Technical knowledge and experience in HP OpenView and/or competing products (Merury Interactive, IBM Tivoli, CA Unicenter, BMC)
Technical competence and experience with ITIL based Service Management tools
Demonstrated success in large sales to Fortune 500 customers
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Proven ability to effectively communicate on all level to a customer.  Must be able to present persuasively.
Strong project management skills
Strong presentation skills.  Must be able to present to all size and level audiences.
Strong sales and negotiation skills.  Prior formalized sales training is desired.

Ability to have a flexible schedule and work from a home office is required
Ability to travel up to 50% of the time is required (mainly central states)
