The Account Executive represents Covad within the business community in the Small to Medium market segment. The AE sells all Covad VoIP and Access products and services and carries a quota that directly impacts the revenue stream of the company

Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for identifying prospective customers through cold calling, networking, and other prospecting systems and resources. This position meets with prospective customers and using a well defined, consultative/discovery oriented solutions selling approach, determines customer needs and delivers an appropriate proposal, including business justification, for the recommended products and services. This position is responsible for consistently achieving or exceeding the monthly quota for new net revenue bookings selling Covad broadband VoIP services directly to end user customers in the SMB market segment. Responsible for any installation or product mix goals as assigned. Generally, an AE is expected to sell a higher end/higher margin set of managed VoIP services. Consistently provides a weekly sales report including activity, pipeline, and 30-6-90 day forecast in accordance with established methods and practices Responsible for using good judgment and resourcefulness to access additional resources when necessary, such as Sales Engineer, Sales Director, or other sales support resources, to achieve sales objectives. Collaborates with other members of the Covad team to ensure a smooth installation. The AE is accountable for consistent achievement of their assigned quota. Performance measurement will in all cases be based upon this metric. During the initial period following hire, a ramp period will apply during which quota assignment will be reduced and be supplemented by a set of activity objectives that will drive compensation.



Qualifications: < Effective knowledge of telecommunications, data communications, networking, applications, internet industry, including competitive knowledge from an industry wide perspective is essential to success Proven track record of exceeding assigned quota, and consistent top performer among peers is expected and will be confirmed through the reference check process A quickly learned and strong understanding of Covad VoIP products and services is essential to be able to professionally present to business customers and close sales. Excellent tactical selling skills, including probing, objection handling, presentation and closing skills are required Well developed prospecting resources and skills are required Highly effective verbal and written communication skills, including an energetic, enthusiastic and compelling sales presence Proven ability to work in a remote, home office environment with minimum supervision Proven track record of uncompromising ethics and integrity Proven ability to understand a technical product set Flexibility to travel whenever necessary Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Business or equivalent experience, certifications, or training A minimum of 3+ years of successful sales experience with a telecommunications, data communications, or similar services company is required. Combined experience selling complex telecom/data/services solutions in the SMB market segment preferred.
