Job Description

Do you have the abilty to take consumer insights and develop sales tools to help drive the category?

Do you have a strong understanding of the retail industry trends and movements?

We are looking for a Category Development Manager to join our fast-paced, growing environmnent. The ideal candidate will have the ability to take initiative and be self-motivated. This positon requires the ability to work independently and make decisions.

This is an essential role for providing category expertise to enhance retail partnerships by increasing category sales and aiding in fact based selling.

Strong contribution in leveraging consumer insights and shopper trends to uncover sales opportunities for retail accounts, sales teams and internal departments.

1. Increase category leadership role at key accounts and provide analytical expertise and direction to the Field Sales force in all key account Category projects.

2. Develop relationships with key retailers as a category consultant by providing expertise and actionable recommendations that positively impact their entire business.
3. Lead the development of detailed analysis required to support strategic and tactical category plans.
4. Manage category development toolkit to achieve a comprehensive set of data that includes both account trends and consumer insights.

a. Syndicated data, direct retailer POS, and consumer/shopper insight reporting, in addition to shelf planning software and images

b. Turnkey presentations that sales teams can customize for use as part of their own account meetings

5. Create training programs that explain the powerful opportunity of category management and fact-based selling, in addition to promoting ?best-practices?.

6. Drive strategic initiatives within account planning by providing actionable category analysis and expertise to Senior Management.

7. Work with internal & external teams to gather all pertinent presentation materials, delegate project deadlines and, at times, train others in order to ensure all projects are completed efficiently.

Requirements

Candidates must possess strong technical and sophisticated analytical and reporting skills

- Microsoft Office, advanced abillity with Excel, Powerpoint, Database reporting

- Confidence with preparing and presenting convincing, fact based recommendations

- IRI, ACNielson or NPD experience and general experience with analyzing and applying consumer research

- Space Management software knowledge (ProSpace/Intercept, Apollo or Spaceman)

- 5+ years experience in a consumer packaged goods company- Strong desire to secure career development within Philips and a willingness to possibly move into a front line sales position in the future if appropriate
