SummaryAs a member of the Custom Publishing Team, the Custom Publishing Editor will drive the growth of custom published products and achieve revenue targets for the Thomson Learning Higher Ed Group Sales Force. The CPE will target, identify and secure locally authored material for both on campus use and nationwide distribution. The CPE will identify and secure custom publishing opportunities on both the course level and the institutional level in order to achieve assigned revenue targets. The CPE will collaborate with local Sales Reps, Editorial and Marketing staffs in the Thomson Learning family of publishers to facilitate the process of developing and delivering custom published products. The CPE will develop and participate in custom publishing training for the Group Sales Force. Other duties include active participation in the development of key marketing communications for both internal and external customers.Description1. Identify new accounts and close sales; maintain quality contacts with key decision makers throughout the sales cycle, employ company resources as needed to close sales. This includes working with Higher Ed GSF Representatives to visit campuses and calling upon appropriate professors at each institution.
2. Manage existing accounts. Expand current sales levels and understand changing customer needs to insure proper fulfillment of orders.
3. Become proficient in CRMS, JDE, Bridge and DW and utilize them to their full capability.
4. Reach all assigned sales margin goals.
5. Prepare complete, accurate, detailed reports within established timelines: customer reports, trip reports, weekly reports, monthly reports, and special reports as requested.
6. Develop and implement marketing plans, which maximize sales opportunities for all publishing companies represented by Custom Publishing Editors.
7. Prospect for new accounts through personal sales calls on campuses, networking, market research, telesales, and mail campaigns.
8. Attend assigned trade show to promote product and close sales.
9. Sign new products through interaction with professors from colleges and universities in geographic territory.
10. Stay within assigned budgets.Qualifications1. BA/BS degree or equivalent theoretical depth.
2. Minimum one to three years professional experience required; demonstrated results in the needs-based selling process preferred. Basic understanding of territory management (planning, prospecting, closing) preferred.
3. Strong organizational, managerial, and personal skills to successfully communicate and negotiate with internal and external customers.
4. Basic computer skills are necessary to manage assigned duties. These include, but are not limited to, the Windows environment, account management software, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
5. Presentation skills: ability to perform in front of groups employing latest presentation technology and command of presentation graphics.
