Development Associate

Position: Development Associate-National

Reports to: Director of Development

 

The Development Associate is responsible for writing and supporting all grant applications for the BELL-National program(s).  S/he will manage all grant timelines including but not limited to: researching and evaluating grant sources, writing grants, providing ongoing support for all donor groups (corporate, foundation, individual and other) and managing BELL?s foundation/corporate relationships.

 

Responsibilities:

 

? Generate grant income for BELL-National in accordance with yearly goals, currently in the range of $6M.

? Grant writer: research, evaluation, submission and ongoing management of grants to reach yearly fundraising goals.

? Participate in development strategy meetings as needed to ensure that approaches for all grant submissions are appropriate for BELL.

? Initiate and manage program site visits and other personal contact with foundations, corporations and other major donors as necessary.

? Analyze, prepare and present monthly giving reports.

? Achieve other annual strategic goals and objectives based on BELL?s Balanced Scorecard.

? Contributions to BELL?s mission through work with other staff members

 Skills and Qualifications

? Strong attention to detail, systems development, and organizational management

? Superior writing skills

? 3 years of successful fundraising experience with a track record of raising funds in excess of $250K

? Passion and commitment to improving the quality of education for children living in low-income communities

? Excellent communications and consensus-building skills across various constituencies

? Knowledge of fundraising technology resources or software a plus

? B.A. or higher
