Has a solid depth of experience in working with Military, Government and Industrial customers.
Primary Responsibilities
? Lead the Government, Military, and Industrial sales effort for the Government, Military, and Industrial market.
? Accept a leadership role in the development, implementation, and management of the Government, Military, and Industrial sales plan for current and future programs, resulting in increased revenues.
? Develop and execute the sales distribution plan for current and future markets.
? Evaluate rep groups for each market
? Develop a strategy for developing new markets, as well as supporting current markets.
? Develop and maintain relationships with key personnel to understand current programmatic issues and future requirements.
? Develop, implement and maintain an administrative system, including systems that monitor and evaluate sales leads, customer requirements and programmatic issues, such that the data can be effectively utilizes by the Government, Military, and Industrial Divisions, R+D, and marketing.
? Design, implement and maintain a financial system, which evaluates the efficiency of the sales activities and assists the divisions in evaluating long-term viability of various programs and/ or projects.
? Guide the marketing department relative to marketing communications and public relations for the Government, Military, and Industrial markets.
? Attend and participate in key domestic and international trade shows.
? Support the international sales effort as required.
? Work with the recreation and GMI sales teams to avoid conflicts and share leads.
? Ensure quality reporting to senior management.
Qualifications and characteristics
The Director Business Development must have a strong background in the Government, Military, and Industrial market. Ideally, the candidate will possess the following:
? Must have credibility in the government, military, and/or industrial market place He/she should understand governmental AND corporate planning processes and the role it plays in procurement.
? Must have excellent understanding of sales distribution on a B2B level. Experience working with distributors.
? Should have an understanding of government regulatory requirements, and ideally how to influence these.
? Proven track records demonstrating the ability to effectively communicate with the customer on requirements issues and, as a result, develop strong, lasting relationships which ultimately lead to the development of new business. Persistence, patience, flexibility. Ability to work diligently with the customer.
? Proven record in leading a team.
? Must understand budget and procurement systems.
? The ability to communicate new ideas in a manner that produces ?buy-in? from senior level decision makers. Communication skills necessary to instill confidence, enthusiasm and influence others.
? Is comfortable dealing with all levels of an organization, from the shop supervisor to CEO, from the law enforcement professional in the filed to Cabinet level positions.
? Ability to recognize critical problems and the resulting areas of opportunity that, when analyzed and acted upon, will translate into definite bottom-line results. Good analytical skills.
? Experience responding to proposals.
? Ability to establish priorities among the diverse markets and opportunities.
? A willingness to step forward, assume responsibility, and try new approaches to solving customer requirements.
? Ability to focus attention on current details, yet keep an eye on long-term successes.
? Ability to operate independently with limited supervision.

? Minimum Ten years related experience.
? Bachelor's degree (B. A.) or equivalent.
? Proven leadership and business acumen skills.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
? Significant domestic and potentially international travel in excess of 40%.
? Trips will include weekends and could extend for weeks at a time.
