Manager - Business Development

This sales position is responsible for signing new merchant accounts each year to accept American Express Cards as a form of payment. This position is also responsible for driving charge volume through these newly signed merchants. Prospects are identified primarily through cold calling/prospecting in an outside sales environment. Internal and external relationships in the marketplace are also essential to uncover opportunities. The incumbent is responsible for updating target lists as new prospects emerge.

The territory includes Nassau County, Long Island / Queens, NY marketplace. This position requires the development of sales plans for each prospect and the coordination of all internal resources necessary to facilitate each signing. The incumbent is also responsible for executing proper account set-up with all new accounts and reviewing critical processes (such as acceptance procedures and reconciliation)

Strong selling skills with a minimum of 3 years outside sales experience required. Extensive cold calling, pipeline management and strategic selling experience are also required. Excellent written and oral communication skills, very good negotiation and decision-making skills, strong quantitative skills, ability to prepare break-even analysis, excellent time management and organization skills. Ability to work with all levels of an organization, good relationships with all support staff functions, ability to prepare and present formal presentations. Location within territory required.
