Summary:

 

This position involves the promotion of the company?s positive image with the public, the development of new business, and the maintenance of current businesses through the conduct of liaison with current customers, potential customers and various government officials at the federal, state and local levels.  Incumbents may have contact with high level administrative offices requiring use of business vocabulary, tact, discretion and judgment.



 

Essential duties and responsibilities:

 Represents the business unit at Civic and Professional Functions. Designs plans and strategies to attract new business and retain existing business. Identifies and targets new businesses for the business unit. Acts as a Patient Liaison.  Must be HIPAA compliant regarding patient?s information. Informs, trains, and motivates staff in effective methods and practices to retain current accounts and to attract new business. Promotes the enhancement of the business unit?s image to attract and retain business. Serves as the business unit?s liaison with local, state, and federal government and business officials on matters related to maintenance of current contracts and development of new opportunities. Prepares correspondence and reports, and maintains files related to the work. Handles problems and non-routine situations by determining the approach or action to take and interprets guidelines, procedures, policies, and practices. Assists in the preparation of an annual operational budget for business development activities. May supervise the work of other exempt and some non-exempt staff. Prompt and regular attendance at work. Performs other such duties as assigned.



 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

BA degree in business administration, marketing, or related fields, and at least four years of increasingly responsible business/private sector experience, or any other combination of education and experience which would provide a broad understanding of business concerns, needs, and activities.  Prefer Health care related experience, proven track record with company loyalties, and case managers and social workers experience helpful.  Must be able to work in a high energy and stressful environment.  Must possess a valid driver?s license.

History of the Company

 

Lifeguard Air Ambulance Service was established in 1982 by a small group of Physicians in Sarasota Florida. They saw a need for fast, comfortable, long distance transport for their patients traveling to specialty care centers across the country. The potential of this service was spotted by the administration of Pinellas Ambulance Service in St. Petersburg; they purchased the company in mid 1980s and expanded a small branch to Pensacola, Florida in 1983. In 1986 Pinellas Ambulance service was purchased by Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) who operated 600 ambulance services across the nation. In late 1989 HCA sold its ambulance services to Secomerica. In 1990 Lifeguard?s Administrator, John Roche and his wife Deborah Roche, purchased Lifeguard from Secomerica and moved the company?s headquarters from St. Petersburg to their home city of Pensacola, Florida.

 

In the first year of private ownership, Lifeguard Air Ambulance, Inc. saw a 56% increase in its customer base and bought its first aircraft. Over the next 14 years,  Lifeguard has continued this positive growth with a small fleet of aircraft that include a Cessna 421, two King Air aircraft, two Lear Jets and  a Citation 500 Jet. April 1997 saw the opening of Lifeguard?s air operation in Birmingham, Alabama and today Lifeguard Air Ambulance continues to provide quality national & international medical transport for critical and non-critical patients via mobile intensive care units aboard our aircraft.

 

Lifeguard Transportation Service, Inc. began it?s  full service ground operations in New Orleans, Louisiana on November 1st  of 1998 and in January of 2001 Lifeguard added it?s second full service transport company in Birmingham, Alabama. On January 2002 Lifeguard proudly welcomed its third ground operation to Pensacola, Florida and in February of 2003 Lifeguard opened a fourth service in Dallas, Texas. We proudly opened our 5th ground ambulance operation in Nashville, Tennessee on April 1, 2004.  In January 2006 we added to our Nashville operations and started in Knoxville and Chattanooga.  Our next ground ambulance operation opened May 2006 in Atlanta, Georgia.  At every location Lifeguard continually strives to maintain exceptional customer service and compassionate patient care.

 

Combined, Lifeguard Air Ambulance, Inc. & Lifeguard Transportation Service, Inc. operate (6) six aircraft and (42) forty two ground vehicles in five states. Our team members consist of over (500+) five hundred medical & non-medical personnel - Pilots, aircraft & vehicle mechanics, EMT?s, Paramedics, Respiratory Therapists, Registered Nurses, Physicians, and Administration staff & Billing departments.
