POSITION FUNCTION:

 

To develop advertising in an assigned geographic territory by developing and increasing market share and revenue utilizing all available resources the Sun-Times News Group offers in the marketplace.

 

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBIILITIES:

 Organize, develop and implement strategies to meet territory sales goals.Sell new accounts to increase the overall territory volume and maintain quality service to existing accounts.  Maintain relationship with all active accounts, their agencies and best prospects in assigned territory.Implement the many complexities of selling, scheduling and producing ads, and utilize competitive opportunities in the marketplace and develop an awareness of marketing trends.  Coordinate administrative duties necessary to ensure proper ad placement and billing.Utilize competitive opportunities in the marketplace and develop an awareness of marketing trends and successes and failures of other newspaper markets.Communicate relevant marketing, circulation and readership data to accounts.Other tasks and duties are assigned.Create and form long term relationships with customers.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 A related college degree is preferred (advertising, marketing, communications)5-7  years of sales experience is required, newspaper sales background is preferred.  Successful track record in sales and customer service to an established client base and ability to prospect for and develop new business.

 

 

SKILL SET:

 Detail oriented with an outgoing personalityAbility to comprehend and articulate basic market research in simple, easy to understand terms in presentation format.Highly motivated, competitive personality, with strong desire to succeed.Must possess transportation for sales calls with proof of valid driver?s license and auto insurance.Ability to work in a high-pressured environment, meeting all deadlines.
