Outside Sales - Base + Commissions - Established Territory
Seeking experienced business-to-business or business-to-consumer outside sales representatives. Prospecting/cold-calling experience is a requirement.
My client is the lobbying organization for small business owners. They are the third largest lobbying group in the U.S., behind the NRA and the AARP. They've been in business for over 63 years and they have about 600,000 members and is an extremely powerful organization.
The objective of the position is to sell an annual membership to business owners. The memberships sell for between $100 and $2400 per year. The average membership sells for about $300.
COMPENSATION
The company classifies employees as W-2, with excellent benefits, including a 401(k) with company match, a pension plan, strong ongoing company support system, and excellent medical and dental benefits after 90 days.
The compensation structure includes a base salary of $36,400 plus unlimited commissions. Sccessful first-year reps can earn from $70K-$100K, with 6-figure income realistic within 2-3 years for top producers. The top 5% of reps earn over $100K per year. There is no cap on earnings.
If you are hired, the first two weeks with the company are spent in the field with your manager or a sales trainer, followed by a company-paid trip to Nashville (one week). Upon your return from Nashville, your next three weeks in the field are spent with a sales trainer on a limited basis.
My client provides you with a target list of companies to call on, which includes the business name, the address, a brief bio about each company, and the name of the business owner. On a typical day, you conduct an average of 5-7 presentations with independent business owners, resulting in an average of 5-10 sales per week.
There is no account management and no product to deliver. You spend 100% of your time in the field generating new memberships and renewing existing members.
Your ability to make a good first impression is extremely important. This is not a relationship-oriented sale, although you do develop a relationship after several years of renewals. Initially, this very transactional sale.
