Publishing Sales Representative- Minneapolis/Fargo

Houghton Mifflin Company, one of America's leading publishers of textbooks, Educational software, fiction, nonfiction and reference works is seeking a dynamic Sales Representative to represent the College Division in Minneapolis/St. Paul and some surrounding areas including Winona, Rochester, St. Cloud, Fargo and Grand Forks. 

 

Position Summary:

This Outside Sales Representative will be responsible for the sales and marketing of textbooks and technology products to professors and academic bookstores at 2 & 4 year colleges and universities. This will require traveling to accounts during academic year and attending conventions, workshops and regional/divisional meeting. Approximately 50% travel will be required during the academic school year (Sept-May).

Primary Responsibilities:
o Develop strategic agenda for business development opportunities based on market input and feedback.
o Visit campuses to analyze curriculum, uncover needs and facilitate presentations to maximize sales situations.
o Expand the nature and scope of collaboration with Editorial and Marketing groups to identify and develop new products for publication.
o Develop and execute sales plan, including product positioning, target market and customer segmentation, communication strategy and creative content briefs.

 

 

Requirements

Requirements:
o Strong academic performance and a bachelor's or advanced degree
o Previous successful sales experience, as well as in interest in selling to the academic community.
o Ability to develop and maintain relationships with key decision makers.
o Technological proficiency of the web and Microsoft WORD & EXCEL.
o Valid driver's license and good driving record are required.
