Regional Sales Mgr. (FRD)

Position Description:

TERRITORY: The position will be based in SanFrancisco, Ca. Although the San Francisco Bay Area would be an ideal location for our Western Regional Sales Manager, we are very flexible and would consider candidates from other Western Region Boundaries that have access to major airports.

General Function:
Ensures the achievement of sales and marketing objectives of the Fence Rail and Deck region. Responsible for managing all field sales activities within the region, including direction of sales organization. Develops and executes short and long term strategies to achieve or exceed sales volume, profitability and market share objectives. Will also be responsible for recruitment, training and supervision of approximately 3-5 territory representatives (company employees and also independents). Motivation of the field sales force to obtain optimum growth, market share and pricing goals are also functionally relevant. The position will also perform all regional sales administrative requirements.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Formation and management of sales force, including recruitment, hiring, training and development programs.
Make distribution decisions to maximize our growth and long term position in each market.
-Execute sales programs in accordance with policies.
-Assign sales objectives to sales force and periodically evaluate their performance, taking necessary steps when corrective action is needed to bring results in line with objectives.
-For the purposes of evaluation, plan periodic sales reviews and drive plans of action for each territory.
-Personally establish and maintain key account contacts, including responsibility for direct management and relationship building with large regional and national accounts headquartered within the region.
-Recommend sales and departmental budgets and operate within approved budgets.
-Achieve adequate profit margins and sales volumes as required to maintain profitable operations and to meet our sales and profit objectives.
-Periodic sales volume budgeting and forecasting.
-Development and implementation of expense
Budgets.
-Responsible for regular business activity reporting.
-Customer sales analysis to maximize product
mix and profitability.
Understand customer requirements for collateral materials and Co-op funds, as well as, joint account planning in effective use of those funds.
-Participate with peers and supervisors in the
development of overall product line strategies.
-National/HQ responsibility for assigned Co-op/buying group accounts, including programs, show specials and space.
-Establish business plans with distributors, monitoring their performance against established agreed upon goals.
-Policy Development - Implement distribution policy.
-Establish field reporting procedures.
-Establish and supervise customer promotional spending procedures.
-Planning - Requires extensive sales activity planning. Identification of high payoff customer activities is important.
-Working Conditions - extensive travel in support of field activities is required 60%+, including some weekend travel.
This position requires extensive pioneering efforts.

KNOWLEDGE:
Bachelors Degree minimum. Three plus years experience in territory sales and three plus years in field management preferred. Building materials background highly advantageous. Experience in working with, or as, independent agent helpful.
