ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Systems Engineer, Sr will provide pre-sales Open Systems/Client Server technical support to aid in the sale, installation and use of Sun Microsystems Storage Group products and services. The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for implementing marketing aids, documentation, answering technical questions, aiding in complex system configurations and providing technical support to Account Executives.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
Travel as required for sales meetings and training.REQUIREMENTSREQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
Maintains in-depth knowledge of operating systems, programming systems, hardware systems, peripheral products (Network and storage), conversion techniques, configuration techniques, and performance methods necessary to advise potential clients on the possible use of Sun Microsystems Storage Group products and services, existing and proposed. In addition, will provide direct sales support requiring assistance in the areas of programming systems, performance, conversion and complex configuration planning, as well as, assisting in software support and problem determination when required. Will develop and maintain Sun Microsystems Storage Group pre-sale software packages used by customer and salespersons. Prepares and delivers presentations, technical papers, conducts discussions for customer and prospects. Prepares evaluation reports, provides consultation and research for Sun Microsystems Storage Group marketing management. Provides systems assurance function.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE:
Bachelor's degree in related field plus ten (10) years experience. Two (2) years technical school or AA certificate in related field plus twelve (12) years experience. High School plus fourteen (14) years experience. Experience in Systems Engineering with large systems is desirable; previous experience with a company in the area of complex systems and peripheral products. Position requires minimal physical effort.
