Semiconductor Sales Manager/Sr. Sales Rep

Cree, Inc. is a market-leading innovator and manufacturer of semiconductors that enhance the value of LED solid-state lighting, power and communications products by significantly increasing their energy performance.

Key to Cree?s market advantage is unrivaled materials expertise in silicon carbide (SiC) with gallium nitride (GaN) to deliver chips and packaged devices that can handle more power in a smaller space while producing less heat than other available technologies, materials and products.

We currently have an opening for a Semiconductor Sales Manager/Sr. Sales Representative.  Details of this position follow below.

Position Summary:
The primary focus of this position is the development and management of a growing revenue stream of Cree Lighting products to end and distribution customers. Successful job execution requires excellence in the total selling process for electronic components: from direct sales lead generation and management, through to ongoing production order management using a disciplined sales pipeline management procedure executed in person, through the web, and over the phone. This position requires residence in Durham, NC.
Superior complex selling skills in an industrial opto/electronics components environment are also expected. The successful Sales Manager must be able to directly support customers with their questions on product specifications, product selection, reliability and quality data, and with manufacturing best practices. Customer organization size and complexity may vary from Fortune 50 companies down to privately owned architectural lighting companies.
This position will be responsible for customer relationship management for all Cree Lighting products, but will also require close collaboration with business unit product management/engineering personnel, applications personnel, production and manufacturing staff, customer service groups, and, in some cases, with business unit Marcom professionals.



Responsibilities:

1. Meet and exceed sales objectives for all Cree Lighting products per quota on a worldwide basis, or within assigned regions (e.g. North America), consistent with the business unit business plan. This includes support and development of existing customers along with development of new sales leads and accounts for continued sales growth.
2. Act as the ?voice of the customer? to promote actions at Cree which best integrate with customer requirements and Cree?s business objectives.
3. Establish strong business relationships with all relevant functional groups within customer organizations through frequent trips and teleconferences. Although primary focus will be on engineers and executives responsible for new product design, support of production, manufacturing, quality, and customer service functions within customer organizations are also essential to growing and sustaining a long-term sales stream.
4. Manage distributors and representatives to ensure sales objectives are achieved. This will include identifying potential partners and continually evaluating existing partners effectiveness/performance to meet their sales objectives.
5. Provide basic technical support as warranted by the customer. This includes quickly identifying the depth of the problem and, if required, investigating the answer with Cree?s engineers/scientists.
6. Provide competitive market information to management to help drive the direction of product marketing and development.
7. Propose new product opportunities to core business teams based on customer needs, timing, compliance with Cree core competencies, competitive intensity and general segment attractiveness. Solicit feedback on technical roadblocks to achieve Cree design wins.
8. Understand the level of customer satisfaction with Cree technical support and drive continuous improvement in customer satisfaction while meeting Cree?s business needs.
9. Work with functional reps across the Lighting business unit to deliver customer solutions and solve customer problems.

Specific Skill and Degree Requirements:

1. Demonstrated history of selling $5 million to $15 million business-level agreements in complex manufacturing environments
2. Minimum 5 years direct experience; typically over 10 years experience. Experience within the electronics components and/or optoelectronic industry. Additional experience within the general illumination and lighting industries a plus.
3. BSEE or equivalent degree to provide some technical support to customers
4. Knowledge of marketing strategies and tactics, basic market research techniques, product demonstration and sales techniques, and sales control systems
5. Willingness to travel extensively
