Exec. Assoc. Athletic Director/Sr. Woman Admin. # 06-08-013

Essential Functions:Responsible to the Director of Athletics for assisting with management of the day-to-day operations of the athletics department; serve as director in his absence; supervise and evaluate the women?s athletics program to meet the needs and expectations of the University. Oversee the operation of various sports programs, including budget, scheduling, team travel, recruiting, planning, staffing, bidding, and coordination of championships, and other related areas; represent the athletic department as Sr. Woman Administrator in NCAA, conference and related meetings.

Summary of Duties & Responsibilities:
Consult with the Director of Athletics on matters complex in nature and of critical importance to the department. Serve as department?s primary resource for appropriate crisis management and conflict mediation. Serve as member of department?s senior staff management team. Serve as member of various NCAA, Big West Conference, and campus committees. Point person on all Athletics Progress Rate (APR) issues. Manage eight sports: Volleyball, Softball, Men?s & Women?s Soccer, Men?s & Women?s Tennis, and Men & Women?s Golf. Supervise the Director of Sports Medicine and Cheer Coach. Participate in the hiring, evaluation and termination of program coaches; act as championship director for the Big West Men?s & Women?s Tennis Championship. Assist in game management responsibilities. Serve as the Sr. Woman Administrator to the NCAA and BWC. Represent UC Riverside and the BWC as a member of the Administration Committee. Work with the Chancellor, Director of Athletics, FAR and Compliance Director in determining UC Riverside?s position on NCAA and BWC proposed legislation. Monitor and ensure department progress in completing NCAA Certification action plans.

Minimum Requirements:Bachelor?s degree.

Demonstrated progressively responsible senior level management experience; skill in functioning effectively as a member of a management team and identifying and resolving organizational problems; experience formulating policy and procedures to support operations.

Demonstrated leadership experience in planning, supervision and management of athletic programs.

Demonstrated experience in human resource management including recruitment and selection of staff, supervision of personnel, performance management, and employee relations.

Computer proficiency and experience.

Demonstrated interpersonal skills to interact effectively with various constituencies within the UCR campus, the UC System, and external agencies.

Strong writing skills to prepare written reports, publications, correspondence and proposals.

Knowledge of and demonstrated commitment to NCAA rules & regulations.

Hired applicant must possess a valid California Driver's License; and must successfully pass a background check though the Department of Justice.

Preferred Qualifications:Education and experience equivalent to a Masters Degree.

Broad supervisory and managerial experience at an NCAA Division I institution.

Thorough knowledge of Big West conference rules & regulations.

Working knowledge of the NCAA APR (Athletics Progress Rate) rules.
