Fitness Director

SUMMARY:

Plans, organizes, and assists with the development and delivery of fitness & physical activity programming for AWFFK! after school programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Assess demographic information and collaborate with other health specialists and civic groups to ascertain health needs, develop desirable health goals, and determine availability of professional health services.

Implement all aspects of Fitness Gram Testing (Prepare, Conduct, Analyze, Report & Prescribe)

Develop relationships with school administration and LAUSD to enable AWFFK! to provide successful programs

Assist with the development and delivery of program specific training

o Physical Activity Leadership

o SportWall / SportBall

o Sport 4 All

o Energy Breaks

Assist in the development and implementation of new sports and physical activity projects

Assist in the recruitment of quality staff for all fitness and physical activity programming

Contribute to the coordination of weekly site meetings & discussion topics

Participate in weekly site supervisors meetings

Manage equipment and resources for fitness/physical activity programs

Attend off site meetings and conferences pertaining to fitness programs

Assist in the development of a staff handbook & Physical Activity Leadership Training Curriculum

Provide support and guidance for additional AWFFK! programs

Prepare Program Reports & Evaluations as needed

Promote health discussions and disseminate educational and informational materials to students and their families

Develop guidelines for activity debriefing discussion topics for coaches

Assist with evaluation of program efficacy

 

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to conduct each essential duty satisfactorily. BS or BA in Kinesiology, Health Science, Sport & Recreation or related field desirable

Competency in writing and speaking Spanish is desirable

Experience developing and implementing youth fitness and physical activities.

Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with LAUSD staff, parents and community leaders

Ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate sensitivity to others

Excellent organizational skills

Strong computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Transportation or a viable means to access multiple locations

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Certified ?Group Fitness? or Personal Training Certificate or related experience an asset

DAYS / HOURS: Flexible hours, typically from Monday ? Friday, 2-6 pm (20 hrs. week). Some weekend work will be required.

COMPENSATION: $30/hour
