Position Overview

 

This position can be located at any of the Cargill Salt facilities.

 

This position is within the Salt/Deicing Business Unit and is responsible for the development, communication, and execution of negotiation strategies for critical supply requirements in the Packaging category. Gathering and benchmarking market intelligence is a key responsibility in developing each negotiation strategy. The ability to collaborate and lead cross-functional negotiation teams will be critical to the success of this position. This position will facilitate supplier relationships and monitor supplier performance. The Packaging Sourcing Manager will collaborate with our facilities and Procurement Best Practice Manager to develop best practices in the category.

 

Principle Accountabilities

55% - Develop strategy and execute business unit level negotiations for critical Packaging needs. Develop and execute supplier diversity strategy for category to meet Business Unit (BU)& Corporate goals.

20% - Perform value-engineering analyses and purchasing guidance, in conjunction with key BU staff, to effect cost optimization for materials and services.

15% - Participate on corporate procurement initiatives related to packaging.

10% - Facilitate, monitor, communicate, and recognize supplier performance for business unit. Manage supplier performance metrics for the packaging category.



Required



Four year college degree in supply management, business, engineering or related degree

Minimum 5 years professional experience in procurement, supply management, or related field

Minimum 3 years of negotiation and contracting experience

Demonstrated leadership, communication, organization and negotiation skills

Experience managing and/or leading team

Strong drive for results

Demonstrated problem solving skills

Ability to travel up to 50%

 

Desired

Packaging Category management experience

Experience in a food grade packaging environment

JDE OneWorld, Microsoft Office & e-Sourcing software skills
