Supply Chain Manager - Major Oil Company, Houston

 

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for leading and improving the performance of the Gulf of Mexico functional areas for Global Supply Chain Management (GSM) - Procurement, Materials and Logistics. Responsibilities include implementing supply chain strategies and tactics as part of the broader North America & Global GSM organization. This role takes ownership and accountability for understanding customer (BU) requirements/needs and coordinating all supply chain activities to meet those needs with the GOM. This Mgr. is a trusted business adviser to the asset management team and is a "one-stop-shop" for their SCM needs, questions or problem resolution. They will assist functional team members to serve their BU but also ensures quality delivery and communication between GSM functions.


ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES:Lead employee/contractor resources for Procurement, Materials and Logistics functions Develop & optimize business relationships with key customer groups (Production Operations, Engineering, Drilling and Developments). Identify supply chain opportunities within region that enhance value to the business. Define and implement strategy, processes and performance metrics for area of responsibility and agree with the business. Facilitate collaboration between Customers, Category Managers and Account Managers. Responsible for setting local business priorities, guiding day to day projects and activities, participating in operations strategy and strategic objectives for the supply base. Create and manage budgets for the supply chain and participate in preparation and monitoring of Business budgets. Execution of sourcing process for local procurement. Assist Category Managers on training requirements, performance reviews and providing resources. Interface with government agencies as required to achieve planned targets.

 

 Strong sourcing / negotiating skills. Operational knowledge of oil field shore base operations and marine vessel operations. Excellent communication skills. Ability to coordinate/influence multiple groups. Recognized leader with effective interpersonal skills. Effective team player with a proactive in interface with customers. Understanding of contracts.


EXPERIENCE:Minimum of 8 years experience within the Supply Chain function or equivalent operations experience with operations background. Recognized expert in one functional area of the Supply Chain with broad experience in others. Strong operational knowledge with emphasis on offshore operations. Strong knowledge of global supply base. Experience with Shore Base operations, inventory processes and optimization.

 

EDUCATION/TRAINING:Under graduate degree required (Technical / MBA preferred). Oil and gas operations experience preferred. Professional Supply Chain Qualification preferred.
