Major oil company, downtown location, Houston, requires a Supply Specialist - Drilling

 

POSITION SUMMARY:
As a key member of the Global Supply Chain Drilling Services Team, this position will give the successful candidate a professionally challenging and rewarding opportunity to apply or develop their supply chain skills.  This is a visible, dynamic position, which works closely with Global Drilling in the planning of Exploration & Production drilling operations domestically and internationally.  The successful candidate will work closely with drilling operations and the supply chain team in each area of the category to identify customer needs and key drivers to develop strategic approaches to each market segment.  He/She will also ensure that supply chain standards are maintained, best practices are applied globally, and commercial leverage is optimized.  A strong contracting background, negotiation skills, interpersonal skills, and attention to detail are essential for success in this role.

 

ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support the Category Manager for Drilling Services as the liaison between Global Supply Chain and Global Drilling within as well as with external suppliers.
Manage the day-to-day activities of the Drilling Services Team.
Perform both tactical and strategic functions related to purchase orders and contracts.
Manage SAP data entry.
Manage contract agreements.
Manage external suppliers.
Analyze market conditions in the category area of Drilling Services.
Accept exposure to many parts of the organization, interfacing with peers and managers.
Reports directly to the Category Manager located in Houston, Texas


SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:


Ability to manage multiple projects efficiently
Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
A working knowledge of Drilling Operations and or Services with a strong emphasis on contract negotiation and management
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
IA working knowledge of procurement terms and conditions pertaining to the contracting function
