General Summary
This position provides leadership in tactical operations of the Supply Chain processes including inventory planning and management, distribution, and production planning to drive Customer Service to industry leading levels. This position may/will have the opportunity to also take the lead Supply Chain Planning role in new product introduction planning. This role ensures that the processes are executed in a quality manner for their products and cost/service tradeoff options are considered to drive continual business improvement. Continuously monitors the performance of production sources for their product categories, including third party co-packers and re-packers, to ensure industry leading service levels while minimizing contractual penalties and finished goods inventories. Works with cross-functional areas (e.g. Commercialization, Finance, Marketing, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Sales, R&D) to understand the various business needs and priorities and develops optimal solutions. Works with Customer Service to proactively deveop crises management strategies to resolve service issues regarding tactical inventory availability. Demonstrates a recognized expertise in their sector and channel specific markets. Provides direction to third party providers to achieve business unit objectives. Performs strategic analysis regarding planning processes, utilizing current planning tools. This role actively manages the initiatives to drive continual improvement in supply chain support tools for further business improvement.
Principal Accountabilities
40% - Inventory Planning and Management - Develop, execute and manage an inventory plan which minimizes working capital while meeting or exceeding customer service targets. When exceptions occur, conduct root causal analysis to develop and implement corrective actions, and communicate resolutions to all relevant stakeholders. Analyze, build and maintain the inventory parameters in Manugistics and DB2 to ensure optimal inventory plans are developed.
20% - Distribution Planning and Management - Develop and manage distribution and deployment strategies to optimally maintain inventory levels at all distribution facilities. Analyze, build and maintain distribution parameters in Manugistics and DB2 to ensure optimal distribution execution while minimizing transportation costs.
20% - Production Planning and Management- Create an unconstrained production schedule to effectively balance supply and demand. Develop and manage a communication process to foster a team approach with all stakeholders ensuring a holistic understanding of plan deviations. Analyze, build and maintain production planning parameters in Manugistics and DB2 to ensure optimal production plans are being developed which minimize cost.
20% -Manage Brand Initiatives/Projects - Represent the planning function on commercialization teams. This can include a range of responsibilities and projects including new item launches, reformulations, label transitions, product discontinuances, scenario planning regarding start up inventory strategies, and coordinating with sales and marketing to minimize finished goods writeoffs and packaging liabilities.
Job Complexity
Balancing demand plans with the supply capability. The job holder needs to determine risks and capabilities of product supply. The position controls the supply / demand product flow and scheduling exceptions.
This position is the top Order Fulfillment (Distribution) Power User of Manugistics in Campbell's Soup - DRP settings for Retail, Canadian and International businesses, as well as associated MPS settings for Retail, Canadian, International and the AFH businesses units are managed by this position. Included in this component of the job (for Retail, Canadian, International and AFH) is the management of dynamic safety stock settings based upon forecasting bias, process line shutdowns sourcing changes, new products, new locations, product conversions, and unique customer supply management programs.
The incumbent must also be a Power User of the associated supporting system applications, for Retail, Canadian, International and AFH, that support the Manugistics planning environment.
A highly complex setup and management process is required from this position due to the system set up, maintenance and then the planning for all EAD's and shippers.
The supply of product to numerous channels, e.g., Food, Mass & Drug, Retail, Club, has it's own unique challenges and complexity. The position needs to support and manage multiple streams of demand within these channels.
With a non-integrated ERP platform, this position must be highly skilled to be able to work between and within numerous platforms to obtain all required information to manage the business, e.g., ESS, WMS, ILSA and the IM Tool.
This position is often challenged with testing highly complex, new software for functionality and correct coding, while still completing everyday job assignments.
Ability to interpret complex data as it relates to issue at hand and to provide analysis, forecast, and schedule in a meaningful format.
Must be able to address planning/forecasting related issues that the manufacturing facilities or stakeholders bring forward. Involves identifying there is actually a problem, and the best course of actions to address any issues.
Work with cross functional team to develop product launch timelines and plant/packer capabilities to meet start ship dates.
Education & Experience
Minimum education required: BA/BS in Logistics, Operations Management, Business or related field or equivalent experience in a similar role.
Minimum experience: 5+ years of experience in a supply planning or related forecasting/production planning.
Qualifications
Consumer products industry experience preferred.
Excellent Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel. MS Access skills or aptitude to quickly learn is important.
Manugistics experience preferred; SAP experience helpfull
Ability to interpret and adjust to situations that involve conflicting goals.
Strong attention to detail and excellent analytical skills.
Excellent conflict resolution skills.
Ability to effectively communicate with various functions and levels within the organization.
Ability to work effectively in multiple cross functional teams.
