Bench Technician

Description: Salary grade: NE13 Position Summary: Under the general direction of the Field Support Manager, this position is responsible for testing, repairing, adjusting/ modifying converters and VCPs/Smart Cards. The position is also responsible for keeping the Manager informed of parts required for the repair process and making process improvement recommendations.

Primary Responsibilities:

Test, diagnose and repair the following equipment: HN VOD converters and decoders, PC?s and peripheral items (i.e. printers, keyboards, video display terminals, RF modulators, video tape players and MATV distribution amplifiers).
Build computers from card level, and install and configure software to interface with hotel movie systems.
Test failed units for functionality.
Test prototype equipment for HN engineers and vendors (i.e. plasma TV tuners, and interface modules).
Maintain & monitor spare parts inventory required for new and existing projects.
Repair defective units in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
Maintain records on all items repaired.
Remove and replace failed electronic components.
Provide onsite technical support and telephone support to HN and contractor technical personnel.
Periodically perform QA (Quality Assurance) sampling of repaired items.
Support Field Operations and Installations Department by maintaining vendor RMA process.
Assist with other tasks as needed or as assigned by the Field Support Manager to improve the delivery of service to hotels (i.e. monthly hotel system movie update).
Periodically oversee temporary employees on special projects.

Qualifications:

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Minimum of two (2) years formal training or equivalent work experience in electronics technology.
Minimum of one (1) year work experience as an electronics bench technician.
Understanding of the practical application of radio frequency, digital and analog electronics.
Experienced in the use of wiring diagrams, logic flow charts and schematics.
Computer and office equipment knowledge to include Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Word, fax machine and copier.
Ability to communicate effectively with clients, vendors and co-workers. Providing and receiving instruction.
Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
Ability to effectively organize and prioritize tasks so that all are completed within established time frames.
