Duties to include but not limited to:

 

Actively direct and coordinate activities of workers engaged in installation, maintenance, and repair of underground, buried, and aerial telephone cables. 

 

Prepares for installation by studying proposed construction plans and  drawings to ensure that proposals are compatible with existing plant and adhere to specifications; assembling materials, supplies, and crews.

 

Inspects construction sites and installations to ensure service deadlines are being met.  Complete installation by supervising work; enforcing adherence to standards; documenting actions.

 

Maintains safe and healthy working environment by following organization standards and legal regulations.

 

Supervisory duties include:  Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.  Interviewing, hiring and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. 

 

Directs and coordinates testing and inspection of equipment for operational performance.  Determines work force requirements, and establishes work schedules to meet production and service loads.

 

Accomplishes financial objectives by forecasting requirements, monitoring costs.

 

 

Education and/or Experience

 

Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school, or five years outside plant construction experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Must have at least 2 years experience in placement of aerial facilities, buried facilities, direct and underground. 

 

Skills/Qualifications

 

Qualified candidate must be able to read and understand utility prints. 

 

Must possess active driver's license.  CDL a plus.
