Carrier Account Manager - San Jose or Manhattan Beach, CA, Chicago, IL, McLean, VA or New York, NY

Position Summary:

The Carrier Account Manager will be responsible for growing revenue within their assigned territory and account base on a year over year basis. The CAM will manage effectively the relationship between AboveNet and assigned account base and establish self as part of the customer buying criteria. Achieve new sales and/or renew existing contracts on a monthly basis. Have an in-depth working knowledge of the customer?s business and understand the competitive environment. Maintain and improve individual knowledge on products, services and market dynamics. Utilize target account selling methodology including Large Account Management Program (LAMP) techniques to develop sales opportunities. Develop, communicate and execute Account Development plans including a multi-faceted, cross-functional contact plan. Provide regular reporting and forecasting to sales management.

Responsibilities:

The CAM must have the ability to prospect, sell and close at multiple levels. The CAM must have extensive knowledge of the carrier telecommunications industry and define and execute sales strategies and communicate clearly and concisely through professional presentations. The CAM will be responsible for managing the sales cycle and forecast accurately. Strong data and managed network services competencies; strong Account Management and client interface skills; strong presentation skills; strong sales opportunity analysis skills; strong proposal development; strong closing skills. In depth understanding of client business drivers, strategy and buying cycles. Market research, customization of marketing materials and presentations, etc.

Requirements:

?The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years experience selling within the Wholesale, Carrier and ISP telecommunications market;

?Excellent in forming working relationships within all targeted accounts;

?Sales success selling large bandwidth opportunities, ideally metro area Optical, Ethernet and Wavelengths services including Dark Fiber;

?Strong technical background;

?Requires excellent communication skills including verbal and written;

?Able to work with all levels in the Company;

?Highly motivated and proactive individual;

?Team player;

?Bachlor?s Degree required;

?Ability to work without local management supervision;

?Basic computer knowledge: MS Office, strong presentation skills, and contact management software experience.
