The Director is responsible for the health of our nationwide transport and IP service network and the performance of the Network Operation Center (NOC) personnel. Through leadership, coaching and directing the NOC team ensure proactive monitoring, maintenance and augmentation of the network to meet customer needs, operational metrics and Service Level agreements.



Responsibilities: Direct and provide leadership for all 24/7 operations in the Network Operations Center including managing network availability and metric objectives to minimize downtime and other events. Oversight of the development, implementation, documentation, and performance of NOC policies and procedures. Provide direction for the rollout of software updates and installation of new equipment and facilities with customers, development groups, and vendors. Maintain proficiency in up-to-date technological developments in the networking industry to apply to Covad developments. Work with Engineering to provide operational perspective to product development as well as to provide expertise in deployments. Act as primary contact for Covad Senior Management, Business Development, and Sales for all NOC related updates and activities. Provide leadership to NOC managers and the NOC technicians



Qualifications: Experience working with carriers, collocation centers, and remote operations. Familiarity with DSL and TCP/IP including IP network architecture, routing protocols, peering, and DNS. Familiarity with ILEC operations. Experience with CISCO, Juniper, Redback, Siemens, Nokia, Samsung network equipment Experience with VoIP. Experience managing outsourced network operations is a plus. Experience with complex network management and monitoring challenges. Skilled at providing influence and impact internally and externally, and at all levels. Successful project management experience. Highly developed written and verbal communication skills Excellent management/coaching abilities. High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, motivate employees, and elicit output A strategic planner with high level of sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment and strong operational focus. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience, certifications, or training. Post graduate work desired 7+ years professional experience in a NOC environment involving a geographically distributed network including 3+ years management experience
