Job Summary:
The primary function of the Director of RF Engineering is to provide direction to the RF Managers during the build out, growth and maintenance phases of a CDMA PCS network. The Director of RF Engineering needs to monitor the RF Managers and their staff to ensure that the department remains focused on improving the performance of the network, providing Site Development with realistic system designs, and driving towards workable solutions to problems typical to the industry. When compromises to the systems performance need to be made for business reasons, the Director of RF Engineering communicates this need to the RF Managers so that acceptable solutions can be found. Additionally, the Director of RF Engineering is accountable for providing the necessary resources to the RF Engineering team so that the goals of the company can be pursued, as well as communicating company policies, philosophies and guidelines to his/her team. The Director of RF Engineering is responsible for developing and maintaining a comfortable, stimulating work environment that fosters and encourages personal and professional growth for individuals both within and outside of the RF Team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Fosters and maintains a positive teamwork oriented environment within the workplace, both within the RF Engineering department, and with all of the other departments and vendors that require interaction Develops jointly with the other Directors and Managers, all procedures required for interdepartmental interaction Develops and tracks the capital and expense budget for the RF department Provides direction and guidance to Managers, Senior RF Engineers and RF Engineers for site design and optimization Monitors RF Design team efforts, to ensure that system quality is a priority whenever realistically possible Takes Ownership for system performance and coverage throughout the region Provides direction to the RF Engineering teams during capacity planning exercises Maintains a balance of emphasis between system performance, construction costs, and meeting on air timelines, and communicates the need to make concessions to the Regional Vice President of Engineering and Network Operations Assures that there is a constant flow of information between the RF Engineering Team and the client so that system quality and efficiency can be maximized Provides a means for all members of the RF Engineering Team to participate in job related training Ensures that the RF Engineering staff develops an understanding of the federal regulatory guidelines governing site construction and operation, and develops procedures to ensure that these guidelines are adhered to Interviews and makes final decisions for the hiring of RF Managers and Senior RF Engineers Performs any tasks normally delegated to the Senior RF Engineer or RF Engineer, if needed Completes various tasks for Regional Director of Engineering and Network Operations as directed Anticipates operational issues by understanding tactical and strategic requirements of their unit through interaction with executives and others who will rely on unit performance Develops excellent solutions for contemplated organizational issues as the company continues to grow and develop Ensures understandable written procedures are communicated properly to affected Members for all aspects of the operation Oversees strong management of strategic third party suppliers from contract to performance to optimize effectiveness and quality Oversees development of databases to provide valuable information to management in a presentable form, as well as programming it to keep information and contents updated Provides clear and concise communication to management and executives on operational aspects of their business unit Takes appropriate disciplinary action with Managers that do not follow practice or procedure Hires superior candidates Identifies and retains excellent performers in their business areas by taking steps to ensure they are positioned for career growth Understands the strategic direction of the company to enable his or her team to develop the ability to anticipate issues and understands their performance requirements Oversees the tactical efforts to ensure they are in line with WFI's overall strategic direction 

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor or Master degree in Electrical Engineering or related field and 3-5+ years of supervisory experience in RF industries with a strong demonstration of competence or capability in a high growth environment. Previous experience in design, testing, scale up and manufacturing is a must. Requires 7 to 10 year's hands-on RF engineering experience. Solid knowledge of RF techniques, experience with oscillators, mixers, amplifiers, filters and other RF circuits design, synthesis and evaluation. Experience in narrow band / broadband communications, cable TV, satellite TV, cable modems is highly desired.
