EMC TECHNICAL SPECIALIST

The EMC Technical Specialist is responsible for Tier 2, 2nd Level technical support of data and transmission systems and working on all circuit levels sold by Broadwing up to and including optical, Ethernet and virtual circuits.

Job Responsibilities:

? Troubleshooting circuit issues on the Broadwing Network, working with customers on long standing or repeat issues. 

? Accepting and working Tier 2 level customer tickets from the EMC floor. 

? Performs troubleshooting procedures in a timely fashion on customer tickets.  Works directly with LECS, IXCs and Customers in diagnosing and correcting the trouble on circuits. 

? Updates and works directly with customers and Senior Operational staff and Executive Management ensuring that their circuit is working properly or any repair efforts are on track. 

? Identifies and monitors the Broadwing Network for any major outages during troubleshooting procedures. 

? Provides 24x7 support to the EMC on high level or longstanding customer or access rail issues.  All EMC Technical Specialists are subject to being on-call for customer related tickets. 

Required Education and Experience:

Two years of College or Technical School resulting in an Associate’s Degree or equivalent and three to five years related experience is required.  . A mastery of troubleshooting at all levels is a requirement for this position. An EMC Technical Specialist should have advanced knowledge of MPLS, VOIP, BGP, OSPF and other higher level IP routing protocols and possess advanced knowledge of Networking, Telecommunications and overall troubleshooting. An EMC Technical Special will have obtained industry certifications including but not limited to CCNA and CCNP
