ENGINEER (TELECOMMUNICATIONS)

This position is responsible for design, planning, capital budget, and implementation of complex data, voice, and optical transmission systems. Platforms include; advanced fiber optic transmission systems, IP data and ATM/FRM switches, digital and optical cross connect systems, voice switches, network management systems, as well as data and transport customer interconnect facilities.

Job DutiesParticipates in new technology evaluation, detailed specification analysis, and engineering design. Develops associated system process and procedures for implementation, ensuring smooth transition to Production Network Develop systems level network designs, detailed project scope, and engineering specifications in support of network augments, as requested. Accounts for, manages, and reports on all capitol budget expenditures to ensure proper financial compliance to departmental KPIs. Initiates and coordinates all aspects of purchasing, material logistics, and deployment schedules per department policy. Participates in engineering standards development and researches possible areas to enhance use of current technology and hardware platforms, as required. 

Educational and Experience Requirements

Four years of College resulting in a Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience; 3-5 years job experience preferred; and any related experience with Advance Fiber Optic Transport Technology, Engineering, Network Design or Planning, Network Operations, IP or ATM network protocols, LAN/WAN networking, Project Management, Strategic Planning, Basic Telephony Engineering principals, Financial Analysis skills, and computer based proficiencies.
