Electrical Design Engineer

EDUCATION: B.S. in EE, ECE or equivalent experience is required. Additional safety-specific  training is desired.

JOB DUTIES: Primary engineer responsible for product safety, including Safety compliance test cycles and troubleshooting product safety issues. Assessment of required safety compliance tests for new products, working with outside Safety labs to obtain quotes, generate Safety P.O.'s, gather component/unit safety info needed for outside testing, and working directly with other safety engineers at outside safety labs.  Also working directly with HW design engineers to give advice on meeting safety requirements, and gathering safety-critical component data sheets for safety test cycle. Non-essential: Working with EMC and other product compliance engineers on product EMC issues, in-house pre-compliance testing of EMC and Surge equipment.

EXPERIENCE: Working knowledge of UL/IEC60950-1 related to telecommunications products is required. Desired: Experience with Nationally Recognized Test Lab working in product Safety and EMC compliance testing.  Experience in Safety certification from a product development aspect.  Knowledge of fiberoptic telecommunications products and POTS, Ethernet, Video, and Power port designs and Safety/EMC design guidelines.  Experience with NEBS/OSP compliance testing.
