FINANCIAL ANALYST

The Financial Analyst position in Broadwing?s Cost Management business unit supports the Executive offices of Broadwing, key Finance groups, Operations and Engineering units, and other departments throughout Broadwing, and often provides information on which critical business decisions are made.  The maintenance of data resource systems is vital; however, the focus is more rooted in finance reporting and analysis than in systems data analysis and therefore requires a fundamental understanding of finance and accounting as well as information management. 

 

Essential duties include, but are not limited to:

Research and Development

? Interpret needs of client groups to define purpose, scope, limitations, and impact of the requested initiative.

? Create and maintain databases to house information from the various BRW systems.

? Analyze data for accuracy and integrity by confirming back to the source system.

? Create mathematical formulas and establish database relationships within the model.

? Organize the data into logical financial data groupings for ease by multiple end users.

? Coordinate continued support or transition of the end product.

Reporting



? Develop new financial data reporting models to improve accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency.

? Prepare and present financial data analysis in a reporting model.

? Provide additional data trending to report key patterns, correlations, and indicators with the data.

Other

? Continue to develop technical, leadership skills, and knowledge within the communications industry through classes, training sessions, and self study.

? Keep documentation of current process, reports, and data models current.

? Maintain current Finance-owned systems by updating, deleting, and backing up financial data.

 

Required Education and Experience:

Four years of College resulting in a Bachelors Degree or equivalent. Three to five years related work experience.  Knowledge of Microsoft Tools: Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and database reporting tools such as Brio are required. Strong math, logic, and financial analysis skills are essential for creating the data/reporting models.  Some background in Finance/Accounting or related field required.  Knowledge of Telecommunications industry is helpful.  The ability to work with others along with strong leadership and communication skills are crucial. Must possess multi-tasking skills; be accountable and highly motivated to self-improvement.
