Field Marketing Specialist - San Jose, CA

Position Summary:

The Field Marketing Specialists will be the market expert for AboveNet products. Each FMS will have a core technical competency in one or more of the following disciplines; Dark Fiber, Optical Access Products such as CWDM, DWDM and SONET, IP Services, and Ethernet. Each FMS will be focused on specific sales territory.

The Field Marketing Specialists will leverage their core product competency (feature-function-price-benefits), against competitive products (feature-function-price-benefits) and customer applications to measurably contribute to the revenue success of the assigned sales territories. Perform ongoing analytical development of customer applications, competition, pricing, offerings, and trends. Develop and deliver lead generation output with integrated marketing approaches, report and follow up measurable results

Responsibilites:

a.Develop and apply to the sales process market specific data, product and application data and how it translates into network offerings to solve customer application needs;

b.Develop and implement measurable lead generation programs that drive region specific sales;

c.Translate technical product specifications into business requirements to develop and deliver sales communications materials for specific markets;

i.Product specific and market specific documentation ii.Case studies iii.Customer presentations iv.Market specific data sheets v.AboveNet white papers vi.AboveNet applications solutions

d.Analyze customer information to develop and implement customer programs to drive sales in assigned areas to effectively match products to customer needs, etc;

i.AboveNet products under contract ii.Term of contract iii.Applications supported iv.Growth trends - buying needs ? 3 and 5 year plan

e.Active advocacy to deliver customer field based requirements into Product Development process. Be the principle contact for Marketing to work with Product Development to feedback to PD customer information;

i.Coordinate development of product PowerPoint materials ii.Coordinate development of product Data Sheets iii.Coordinate development of product Price Book iv.Provide Product Development with feedback on customer needs and trends

f.Define, schedule, organize and execute focused customer events;

i.In concert with existing organizations (Tech Councils, etc.) ii.Announcement of new products, network expansion iii.Partnerships and Alliances.

Additional Responsibilites:

a.Attend customer meetings to gather first hand intelligence relating to customer applications, network needs and technical impact from a market perspective; b.Work with SE team to understand technical aspects of offerings and capture on-going customer intelligence to package and position AboveNet products to drive revenue attainment; c.Support sales training and product training activities ? lunch and learn; d.Support annual business planning and budget activities; e.Become active voice in local markets in speaking engagements and publicity events to promote AboveNet; f.Support AboveNet annual leadership meetings and sales meetings; g.Track market success and metrics in conjunction with Marketing/Sales Operations; h.Analyze and report on customer-competitor specific data and formulate response-action plan to support sales objectives.

Requirements:

a.Market ?go to? person for applied technical intelligence and direction; b.Travel to locations within geographic responsibility area; c.5 years SE or Technical Field Marketing experience in the telecommunications industry or some combination; d.Technical Bachelors Degree or equivalent, advanced studies/training desirable.
