GSM Switch Engineer

CIBER, Inc. of Austin is looking for Switch Engineers for a local position in the Austin area.  The Chosen candidate will be responsible for the planning, engineering and performance improvement of the core network nodes in a GSM system. Duties include: Traffic Engineering to forecast and design traffic routing on all interfaces of a GSM network to ensure network and equipment reliability Diagnose and correct telecommunications system and interworking problems; plan and prepare telecommunications engineering documents to ensure network and equipment capacity Provide inputs for telecommunication capital budget Prepare and issue work order for operations personnel to configure, install, and integrate equipmentPerform, and report software and hardware impact studies after equipment installationImplement site configuration changes Use multiple databases to track traffic forecast, equipment configurations, and allocation of Tellabs Titan 5500 Digital Cross Connect Systems; Tellabs 532 Digital Cross Connect Systems; Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) networking equipment; Signaling System 7 (SS7) network signaling and control; Nortel, Ericsson and Nokia Base Station Subsystems (BSS); Nortel, Ericsson, Nokia and Spatial Network Subsystems (NSS); Comverse Voicemail Systems; and TruePosition Time Difference on Arrival Location services resources to support traffic and customer needs. Travel 30% of the time.The ideal candidate has experience preparing engineering documentation for the installation and operation of Nortel DMS100 switches, Ericsson AXE 810 switches, Nokia DX 200 switches, Alcatel soft switches, Nortel Base Station Controllers, Nokia Base Station Controllers, Ericsson Base Station controllers, in a GSM wireless network. High level experience installing, operating, and troubleshooting, this equipment may also be applicable. The candidate should also have experience with Traffic engineering in a wireless network, including an understanding of route utilization, Grades of Service, use of Erlang B tables, and least cost routing.
